I’m prepared to admit that the whole blackface element isn’t good.  However, Oliver’s voice work is extraordinary in this role, and Maggie Smith is Desdemona.

BBC (1982)


Directed by Jonathan Miller, this version stars Anthony Hopkins as the Moor of Venice.

Othello (1995)


The 1995 hollywood version, with Laurence Fishburne being all surly and Kenneth Branagh, being all, well, Kenneth Branagh.
